The 3M Male Chorus is made up of 3M employees, 3M family members, and friends of 3M employees. It celebrates the unique choral qualities of the Male Voice. The 3M Male Chorus was organized over 50 years ago in 1947 to provide the opportunity for 3M people and their families to sing and enjoy good male chorus music. The result has been the establishment of one of the premier non-professional Male Choruses in the upper-midwest. Activities: Each year the chorus performs 15-20 concerts ranging from conventions, community concerts, performances at churches, and retirement homes. The 3M Chorus produces an annual Christmas show and other presentations where the considerable talents of the members can be displayed. The 3M Male Chorus has traveled over Europe and North America and sung with some of the finest choruses in the world. The AMCA: The chorus is affiliated with the Associated Male Choruses of America (AMCA) and is one of the top rated choruses in this International body. Annually the AMCA sponsors a Big Sing in one of the chorus communities in which 15 to 20 choruses (about 400 to 500 singers) participate. They gather to hold workshops, participate in adjudicated concerts and perform in a public concert as a large group. The sound of 500 men singing is an wonderful, awesome experience that is not soon forgotten. We Sing All Styles: Our repertoire is broad and interesting as we sing different musical eras, from Classical to Jazz, from Broadway to Pop. We enjoy musical styles from the 20šs, to the 90šs and especially enjoy music that shows off the unique sound that a male chorus can provide. We are enthusiastic! We work hard and we have fun!: Singing brings out the best in all of us. We only require a willingness to participate and the ability to carry a tune.You do not have to read music. We learn all of our music and have special learning tapes for all the our songs to help those who do not read music. In simple terms Male Chorus singing celebrates the unique male qualities of the human voice. We usually sing in four parts; first tenor, and 2nd tenor are the high voice parts and baritone and bass are the low voice parts. There is a voice part for you. We sing without music. We can be accompanied or unaccompanied, usually by piano but also by other instruments. But the choral sound we love is only obtainable from a large number of guys blending their voices in the unique harmony of song. We have professional directors and accompanists. We have section leaders and mentors to help you enjoy and get the most out of your participation as a singer.
